Jeremy Paxman Biography
Jeremy Paxman (full name: Jeremy Dickson Paxman) is a British broadcaster, journalist, author who was born on 11 May 1950 in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. He is also the quizmaster of University Challenge, having succeeded Bamber Gascoigne at the time the programme was revived in 1994.

In 1972, he joined the BBC graduate trainee programme initially at BBC Radio Brighton, although he relocated to London in 1977. In coming years, he worked on Tonight and Panorama before becoming a newsreader for the BBC Six O’Clock News and later a presenter on Breakfast Time.
He became a presenter for the BBC Two programme Newsnight, in 1989, during which he interviewed a wide number of political figures. He is quite known for his forthright and abrasive interviewing style, particularly when interrogating politicians. These appearances were sometimes criticised as aggressive, intimidating and condescending, yet also applauded as tough and incisive.
In 2014, Paxman left Newsnight after 25 years as its presenter and has since done occasional work for Channel 4 News.

Ms Clough, a former BBC producer, gave up her BBC job as a producer on the corporation’s faith and ethics programme The Big Questions, when it moved to Glasgow, so she could remain close to her partner.
